This promise sounds impossible early on — most of us would pay good money to shut the door on our past. But the past is where our usefulness lives. The exact thing you’re most ashamed of becomes the exact thing that lets you sit with a newcomer and say “me too.” Nothing is wasted. Today, consider that your history might be your qualification, not your disqualification.
